Dieter Schüßler, a fixture in the local Porsche world, retired on June 30, 2025. Fortunately, he will remain with us for some time on a part-time basis to continue providing us with advice and support. He began his career in 1977 with an apprenticeship as a motor vehicle mechanic; by 1986, he was already a double master craftsman, having successfully passed the exams for both Master Motor Vehicle Mechanic and Master Motor Vehicle Electrician. Another 10 years later, he became a certified motor vehicle expert. His entry into the fascinating world of Porsche began back in 1984—over 40 years ago—as chief mechanic at the former Porsche dealership Senger in Rheine.
From 1991 to 2011, he was one of the central figures at the Porsche Center in Osnabrück, before using his enormous wealth of experience to found the independent Porsche workshop AML in Rheine.
A growing customer base quickly developed there, for which the premises in Rheine became significantly too small. At the end of 2018, it became clear that if this success was to have a future, the company needed more space and a succession plan. On July 1, 2019, Elferdienst GmbH was founded by Michael Bohm and Bernhard Bergjan as the successor company.
Alongside Michael Bohm, the then 60-year-old Dieter Schüßler became the employed Managing Director. Elferdienst was able to develop, grow, and benefit greatly from Dieter Schüßler’s experience. The new team had 6 years to find its feet and, thanks to Dieter’s expertise, did not have to learn every lesson the hard way. As a person, Dieter always remained calm; he could say a lot with few words and supported the many inevitable innovations of a growing company to the best of his ability.
